For it's time, it was a *wonderful* piece of equipment. Honestly, I miss the responsiveness of RISC processors...but I certainly don't miss the storage and memory limitations. :-) The ergonomic design was truly "win". Would love to see something like this again with current technology, but with this "station" design...for it's time, it was beautiful. I was working in London in 1988 and the company decided on a big investment, not quite this juggernaut, but a cut down version wich was still something in the region of £30K, but just a PC, monitor and camera to output all the slides. It was a big commmercial decision for this AV company to invest in a PC and churn out slides, in stead of doing these via a rostrum camera (I don't think I have used this word in the last 20 years...) [interesting for linguistics] It gave them a competitive edge and me the honour of being in charge of a computer slifes library. I think I spent a week or two 'digitising' the Lloyds bank logo, the horse, pixel per pixel.... Going through the David Bell article which reminded me of this piece of equipment.
