Fascination (?)

“The capability of eliciting intense interest”

Fascination in spectacle. A MOOC is a spectacle and is a fascination, because of scale, and social interaction on that scale, and the potencial that brings. Fascination is more than a smiling face inviting you in, fascination can be uncomfortable, fascination can be pleasure, and fascination does not always belong to the obvious (or apparent).

The pipe fascinates me because it challenges my acceptance of existent objects. Not sure why the twins fascinates me? Maybe because of duplication, not often seen (a spectacle), there is humor in this image, I can almost hear them speak.

The plant fascinates me because it has attributes that mostly belong to carnivores, and the caption that accompanied it within #edcmooc (view previous post #edcmooc flags). #edcmooc hangout image fascinates because of it’s frantic nature, its speed, its many voices (inspiration for my MOOC artifact), and people who I feel I know, but have have not physically met. That fascinates me.

The phone fascinates me because of character, this is an object that has life, it has human qualities, but with a sense of humor :) . Bendy trees fascinate me because they are a distortion of an existent object brought into the digital domain. Does this image belong to the analogue domain or to the digital domain? Those (existent) trees belong in the TATE turbine hall (not KraftWerk).
